What does it mean in practice?

Our latest survey of 1,180 HR professionals found pensions had regained its perennial top spot in the league table of employee benefits from flexible working which, understandably, was perceived as the most valuable benefit which could be offered to employees when the last survey took place in the depths of the pandemic in summer 2020.

We know most people value pensions but what this latest research tells us is, equally, employers don’t have the tools to reveal how important they really are. More than half (51 per cent) don’t offer anything else apart from the actual pension. And 97 per cent would if it were free.

Which is why our second free HR webinar is devoted to the growing issue of how organisations look out for their older employees planning to retire. What can they sensibly do to help. We will look at online tools and resources which represent a big step forward with no big bill attached.

    Charlotte Gibson

    Rewirement | Founder

Charlotte has worked closely with pension scheme members for over 20 years and has seen what a daunting experience retirement can be for them. Some worry they will lose their identity and purpose; some are overwhelmed by the options open to them and others need time to think and support to work through their next steps.

To help solve these problems Charlotte set up Rewirement, bringing the power of executive coaching to the retirement transition in the belief that if we treat retirement like any other career change we tap into the excitement and energy this mindset change brings.

Starting out as a newspaper journalist and a BBC broadcaster before executive producing Sky News programmes, he came to the world of employee benefits 12 years ago after a stint in corporate and crisis communications and intends to stick with it.
