DB Schemes: new solutions supporting your endgame

Katherine is a senior consultant at Punter Southall Pension Solutions. Katherine re-joined the Punter Southall Group in January 2022 to support business development and investment implementation of the Pension Safeguard Solution.

Her background is in institutional investments where she has had a range of senior roles from Head of Manager Research through Consultant Relations to Head of Marketing. 

Matt Cooper leads PwC's Alternative Pension Solutions business, advising sponsors and trustees on DB Superfund transactions and other third party capital pension funding solutions.

He works with senior pension scheme stakeholders to assess different long-term funding strategies against sponsor and trustee objectives. His focus is to support clients develop journey planning solutions to deliver enhanced pension member outcomes whilst optimising capital efficiency.

He has in-depth knowledge of the providers in the DB Superfund and third party capital funding solutions market and frequently provides insight to regulators and other professional bodies on this market.

Matt represents PwC on the PPF+ brokering panel as the lead transaction advisor in respect of DB Superfund transactions.

Matt is a qualified actuary.

Simon is Chief Executive of Clara Pensions. He is a highly respected life insurance executive, with over thirty years of experience in the industry. His most recent executive role prior to Clara was the Group Corporate Development Director and Group Chief Actuary at the FTSE100 insurer Phoenix Group. He previously led the M&A teams within Resolution plc, and Resolution Operations both of which grew into FTSE100 businesses.

Richard Jones is the Managing Director of Punter Southall Pension Solutions and is a key architect in the development of the Pension Safeguard Solution. He is a qualified actuary with almost 25 years' industry experience, including over a decade heading up Punter Southall’s specialist employer consulting division, prior to the sale of all the pension consulting businesses in 2018.

His particular specialism is the interaction of employer covenant with funding and investment, helping schemes to understand and navigate to the best long-term outcome for their specific circumstances. He have led over 300 complex pension projects during his career.
