Trustee Training
Trustee responsibility
Taking responsibility for the guardianship of an occupational pension plan means accepting the Trustee Knowledge and Understanding (TKU) requirements as set out in the 2004 Pensions Act.
Trustees must be conversant with the pension scheme’s key documents, understand the principles of scheme funding and investment and be familiar with pensions and trust law. View The Pensions Regulator’s guidance and syllabus on TKU .
Trustee training
Punter Southall recognises that trustee boards comprise individuals with differing levels of knowledge and we have created the Punter Southall Trustee Development Scorecard which assesses the training needs of your board against the Pensions Regulator’s syllabus. Using the scorecard we can put together a package of training entirely tailored to your individual scheme needs.
We offer the full spectrum of training courses starting with programs aimed at entry level trustees or those who wish to enhance their existing knowledge, through to advanced courses for individuals with prior training and experience.
Punter Southall in conjunction with the Trustee & Pension Management Association (TPMA) have developed a ‘Trustee Knowledge & Understanding’ course for new trustees which covers all the areas specified by the Pensions Regulator. A complimentary copy of The ‘Pension Trustees – Knowledge & Understanding’ book is given to attendees of this course. Please see the TPMA’s website for more information or download the brochure.
