13 September 2007: Punter Southall to hold London Pensions Conference Chris Hitchen is the keynote
speaker
Following the success of its Surrey, Southern and South West & Wales conferences,
Punter Southall, the national actuarial consultancy firm, is due to hold its first London
Pensions Conference at The Royal Horseguards, 2 Whitehall Court, London on 15
October 2007.
The conference, based on the theme of ‘delivering successful workplace pensions’,
considers a number of issues including: lower risk approaches to scheme funding, DC
and governance, change, contrasting health and wealth and the future of pensions. The
conference is aimed at anyone involved in occupational pension scheme management
and employee benefit arrangements but principally trustees, finance directors and HR directors.
The conference starts at 9.00am, with special keynote speaker Chris Hitchen, Chairman
of the NAPF addressing the conference at 11.45am. Mr Hitchen has twenty years
experience in the pensions arena, spending much of his early career as a consultant on
a wide range of schemes before being appointed the Investment Director and Chief
Executive of the Railway Pension Trustee Company in 1998 and 2004 respectively. He
will consider what he sees as the key challenges and opportunities for those involved in
workplace pension provision. With Personal Accounts due to be introduced from 2012
and increasing numbers of conventional defined benefit schemes being closed to new
entrants or future accrual, Mr Hitchen will set out his vision as to how occupational
schemes of all shapes and sizes might still give British pensioners a retirement to look
forward to.
Other key speakers include: David Willetts MP, Senior Adviser, Punter Southall; Paul
Hickey, Financial Director, John Sisk & Son Limited; Danny Vassiliades, Principal,
Punter Southall; Steve Charlton, Principal, Punter Southall Financial Management; and
Damian Stancombe, Principal, Punter Southall Financial Management.
