PSITL is Punter Southall's Independent Trustee company which provides professional independent trustee services to occupational pension schemes - whether ongoing, closed or winding up. PSITL is managed independently from Punter Southalls other companies, although it benefits from the expertise and experience of those companies.
The combination of our experience as Independent Trustee and our knowledge of actuarial, investment and administrative requirements, places us in an excellent position to ensure the efficient management of a scheme.
PSITL acts as trustee to a variety of occupational pension schemes, both small and large. In addition to the core professional trustee service, PSITLs other services include mediation, formal reviews of pension scheme governance structure and full risk assessment of pension schemes internal controls.
We have a formal board of directors, with each director having considerable actuarial, investment and administration skills and experience, gained by many years active involvement in the pensions industry. We also have staff of all different levels to provide cost effective and appropriate support to our directors.
Our business operates from a number of offices in the United Kingdom including Edinburgh, London and Wokingham. This geographical spread allows us to both service schemes locally and to provide a national service to large UK employers.
Unlike some other trustee firms, we have a support infrastructure to ensure we keep up to date with latest market developments. Our technical research department supports our staff by reviewing and commenting on forthcoming or existing legislation. This allows us to keep trustee boards fully updated on relevant pensions issues, which is greatly appreciated by our clients.
One major problem area that trustees can face in the current environment is the relationship with the employer, especially if there is a significant deficit in the scheme. As Independent Trustee, we can clarify and efficiently settle any conflicts of interest which arise between the employer, the trustees and even the schemes beneficiaries. We ensure there is a proper separation of control of the scheme's assets from the employer, and also give reassurance to the scheme's membership that there is no bias towards any particular party.
