The New Pensions Landscape
Seminar One – Scheme Funding
Venue: Various
Download the course booklet
In 2005-6, we ran a series of seminars called ‘The Final Countdown’ counting down to the crucial
pension changes that took place in April 2005 and 2006. Now that we are all familiar with the
new pensions landscape, we are launching a further series of seminars for trustees and
employers, examining how the new regimes are working out in practice and also looking at some
of the new challenges being faced by occupational pension schemes.
Our first seminar in April will look at a number of issues relating to the funding of defined
benefit schemes:
- How are schemes approaching the new funding regime in practice?
- How is the Pensions Regulator reacting to the recovery plans it receives?
- What do the latest developments on mortality mean for occupational pension schemes?
- What are the implications of the Government’s proposals on transfer values?
Following the success of previous round table discussions, we are organising a further
round of discussions in Guildford during July and October/November.
The round table discussions will continue to focus on current pensions issues, such as the PPF,
trustee knowledge and understanding, the Scheme Funding regime and tax simplification.
The aim of the sessions is to identify the issues arising and discuss how people are approaching
them in practice.
A seminar will also be run in Southampton in May on the subject of Managing Business Risk.
Dates for the Guildford and Southampton sessions will be confirmed soon. Please contact
Jenny Gallagher if you are interested in attending the round-tables or seminar.
