Venue: No. 4 Hamilton Place, Hyde Park Corner, London W1
Chairman: David Willetts – MP
Punter Southall Group are pleased to host an important debate looking at how meeting
mortality risks can and could be met by better solutions than just buy out. Following on
from a thought provoking article in FTfM David Cule (Principal, Punter Southall),
MarkWood (Chief Executive, Paternoster) and Ian Mills (Vice President, Credit Suisse) will
debate the current and potential solutions to controlling mortality risk in a pension scheme.
The evening’s chairman, DavidWilletts MP, will then take questions from the floor for
the panel to consider.
All UK defined benefit pension schemes are continuing to struggle with the shifting sands
of mortality recognition and the seemingly continuous revision of assumptions made to
fund schemes. Acknowledging that this is an incomplete area this debate will consider old,
new and potential market based solutions.Would the Government issuance of mortality
linked bonds be of help to market efficiency? Will providers of capital be willing to take on
mortality risks alone and if so how could this be constructed and at what price? If such
solutions were available would pension schemes be willing to purchase them.
With a straightforward approach to this potentially complex area this debate will provide
valuable insight into what markets are providing now and potentially in the future.
Members of the audience are warmly invited to ask their own questions. If you have
a particular question you would like asking, please indicate your question on the form or
