Who should attend?

Specifically designed for Finance Directors, HR Directors and their teams this event will also appeal to Non Executive directors and Pension Managers and anyone with an interest in recent developments around the financial impact of defined benefit schemes and their impact on the company balance sheet.

Why attend?

You will hear from our actuarial consulting team, who will present and discuss the recent developments and proposals in accounting standards.
They will focus on the four areas that Finance Directors and HR Directors can influence to change the ultimate cash or disclosed accounting cost produced by their pension arrangements:

Asset policy

How Finance Directors should consider the removal of unrewarded risks and consider employing more diversified portfolios using a variety of asset classes. This session will also includes Punter Southall’s latest thinking on using annuities to buy in security or buy-out liabilities.

Benefit design

Any current or future benefit can be amended to manage risk and cost.As well as the obvious DB to DC changes (and the risk-sharing in between), this will encompass liability reduction exercises, early retirement, commutation and trivial commutation and transfer values.

Funding policy

Ensuring that the funding policy is commensurate with the investment policy; bolstering the employer covenant; use of contingent assets and escrow accounts; recovery plan periods; objectives and eventual strategic end-game objectives; impact on PPF levy;working with the Regulator.

Accounting policy

Influencing results under FRS17 and IAS19; understanding the possible impact of potential changes to IAS19; positioning to take advantage of future changes.
