Defined contribution consulting

We run an innovative, forward-looking consultancy with award winning communication and investment strategies, which help to meet client and member needs in the ever-changing pensions market.

 Overview

Punter Southall DC Consulting (DCC) has more than 350 clients, including many household names, blue chip companies and charities, with more than 40,000 pension scheme members between them.   The wide range of clients we work with involves various scenarios and projects offering a wide array of experiences and opportunities to develop within the DC consultancy sphere.

Our administration team is made up of trainees and experienced staff, offering you the opportunity to advance through this team. When you have been a senior administrator, you can choose which route to take next: perhaps a move into consultant support (paraplanner) then progressing to trainee consultant, or retaining a senior administration role. By moving to trainee consultant you then have the opportunity to become a consultant, then senior consultant, and then Principal.

We believe that promoting from within ensures that we retain employees who understand, and can make a difference to, our business.  Three of our senior consultants started as administrators. To achieve this we offer training and support, encouraging employees to aim for the position that they want to achieve and be the best at what they do.

We provide training and support for qualifications relevant to your role and desired career path with Punter Southall DCC.  These can include the Certificate in Financial Planning and the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Internal training courses are also available across a wide range of subjects, including pensions, regulations and software packages.

By being part of Punter Southall DCC you have the opportunity to learn skills with a market leading consultancy, gaining experience with a wide range of clients at the forefront of DC pension planning and workplace saving.

Interesting fact!

I have been snowboarding for many years now and have been fortunate to spend time on the mountains with friends, family and even the King of Spain!

I joined Punter Southall in 2003 to provide administrative support to consultants, dealing with both private and corporate clients.  The clear career path that the company made available has enabled me to progress through the business to my current role as a senior consultant in DCC.

Punter Southall has always been keen to promote from within and has supported my development.  A combination of external study and internal training has continually focused my abilities, interests and strengths.

Each employee is able to make a valued contribution to the company's success and there is a strong sense of being part of a team, not only within DCC but across the various elements of Punter Southall.  This is an important message that we carry to the market; that we are not operating in isolation but with the full support of our peers who are specialists in their own areas of expertise.

My role requires me to meet a wide variety of people from around the country and it is this aspect of the job that I enjoy the most.  Communicating what can be complex messages, and finding the most successful method of doing this, is not easy but can be highly rewarding.

Interesting fact!

I am a keen traveller and like to sample as many different cuisines from around the world as possible – a particular low-point being a rather disgusting fish-flavoured cheese in Tokyo.

I started at Punter Southall in 2006, working as an administrator for the DCC team.  The opportunities and assistance that have been made available to me from the very start have ensured that I could choose my own career path, at my own pace.  The support and recognition that I have received from all members of the team has been a huge help in progressing me to the consultant support role I wanted to achieve.
My role enables me to work with a wide variety of people across all parts of the Punter Southall Group within our offices around the country.  The sense of working for one big team and the friendships that have evolved from this are a large part of what makes Punter Southall such a great place to work.

I also obtain great satisfaction from being involved in the entire process of new business acquisition, from prospect through to client and the project work that follows.  Such a variety of clients and tasks mean that work never gets boring!

The social scene is another aspect of Punter Southall that I feel offers an edge over previous employers.  There is a regular flow of interesting, well-organised events, as well as ad-hoc arrangements, which ensure a close-knit team feeling is maintained both inside and outside of the office.
